In fact, an overcast is perfect for shooting flowers and plants and even people as the sky will dampen the the contrasts of your subject. This will allow your camera to achieve a more balanced exposure and help to bring out natural colors.

There are many advantages of having a photo shoot on a cloudy day but the most important is that your client will have shade. Client shows up in white dress, sun is blazing, no trees ─ Instant scream of panic here! You client can easily feel comfortable and find shade anywhere. You wont have to worry about squinting eyes or light bouncing off a white dress/shirt. You will be able to focus more on your subject and not have to worry about changing camera settings all the time due to over exposed highlights.
Consider a cloudy day as a "pass" from mother nature. Take that camera with you and get crazy with no restrictions.
